Independent living skills
ICL offers a state-of-the-art Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program within congregate housing sites in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Individuals who participate in the program progress through a series of phases as they accomplish goals related to the acquisition of independent living skills and strategies for community re-integration. Structured training is provided in areas such as symptom management, medication management, communication and relationship skills and community re-entry. Individual counseling, substance abuse education and socialization activities are also offered within transitional residential environments. ICL believes that through education, practice and support, individuals living with mental illness can successfully progress to the independent housing of their choice. In addition, they can obtain and maintain competitive employment, manage their symptoms and treatment and live highly productive and meaningful lives in keeping with their personal needs and goals.
