Family reunification and support
The Child and Family Services Division was established in 2001 and has grown from 2 family-oriented programs, the Emerson-Davis Family Development Center, and the Guidance Center of Brooklyn, to well over a dozen child and family programs providing a full continuum of care.
Emerson-Davis is a unique supportive apartment program, specializing in the reunification of single parent families who have been separated due to parental mental illness and homelessness. The Guidance Center, an ICL affiliate, offers outpatient clinic services to adults, children, and families at two Brooklyn locations, Bensonhurst and Prospect Heights.
In East New York, we currently operate two outpatient mental health clinics; the Highland Park Center and the Jerome Street Center. In addition, we have school-based mental health programs, a Juvenile Justice Diversion Program, the Brooklyn Parent Resource Center and a Family Support Program. A supported housing program for women and families with special needs is also operated by this division.
This vast array of children and family services provides ICL with a unique opportunity to offer a comprehensive and integrated package of residential case management, referral, linkage, training, support, advocacy, and treatment services to Brooklyn-based children and their families.
